Cheshta TaterCo-founder, Rightantra While I sat eating at a rather expensive restaurant today, I spotted a child from the huge French window. He was doing pull-ups. On the scaffolding. No, he was not a child labourer. But in that moment, I couldn’t help but be selfish.

Cheshta TaterCo-Founder, Rightantra Maybe it is the area of study I am in or maybe it is my generation, that we talk about sex quite openly and plainly. Sex and sexuality are as old as mankind but I’m sure eyebrows will be raised for opening an article on a child rights platform with this subject. While most readers would choose to read further to see what I have to say, some people will only continue reading it in the hope of some “spicy” content. Some will read further so they can criticise. At the end of the day, sex sells.
Khadija HetavkarContent Writer (Legal), Rightantra The COVID-19 pandemic has affected every aspect of our life and thrown us all into uncharted territory marred with unpredictability and loss. Ameesha TripathiEditor In-Chief, Rightantra A recent judgement passed by the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay HC has made headlines and caused an uproar due to its peculiar reasoning. The case involved a young 12-year-old girl, who was lured by a man under the pretence of providing a guava, and then groped her breasts and tried to remove her salwar. When the child resisted the same, he fled, locking her in the room for her mother to find. Upon learning these facts, the mother immediately filed an FIR under sections 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 363 (kidnapping) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (“IPC”) and section 8 (sexual assault) of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences Act (“POCSO Act”).
